Nine Photographer named best of Weddings 2009 by the Knot Magazine

For me, it is a great honor and priveledge to be named as one of the Knot Magazine's top wedding photographers in North Carolina for 2009. This is the 2nd year in a row I have received this mention and I am so proud! I work with some amazing couples and families and of course some of the finest professionals in the industry so without all of you, I would not be able to do this..., THANK YOU, THANK YOU for blessing my life with such amazing moments. I look forward to many great happenings this year in my photography work and of course many great weddings and couples.

I wanted to thank everyone who helped bail us out of jail. Between Audrey, Brie, and myself, we raised nearly $900 for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. Go Team! I want to thank Karen from Browns Floral Design, Shannon from Shannon Baker Events, Dr. Dave Richards of Richards Chiropractic, Gallery Minerva, and all the individuals who help make this happen. You are all awesome!

New Gallery

My studio, Castell Photography, will be opening the doors to our brand new space in downtown Asheville April 3! The 2400 sf space will function as a venue to meet with clients, a fully-equipped darkroom and work area, and as a strictly photo-based gallery featuring my own personal artwork, as well as that of other talented lens-based artists on a rotating basis.

I have joined up with the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association (ADGA) and my gallery will be in the yearly brochure and map they publish, and will also be a participant in the yearly Art Walks. These are scheduled for April 3, June 5, August 7, and October 2 from 5-8pm.

Please stop in April 3 from 5-8pm! The new address is 2 C Wilson Alley (we're right behind Limones Restaurant on Eagle St).

Help Us Get Out of Jail!

Brie here, from Castell Photography... i wanted to tell everyone about a very special fundraising event Corey Cagle, Audrey Gofourth, and myself are currently involved with, a "Lock-up" benefitting Jerry's Kids and MDA. We'll be "arrested" Wednesday, March 25 and "jailed" at the Outback Steakhouse in Hendersonville. Our "bail" is set at $2400 each, so we are working hard to raise this money! All proceeds go to fund research, medical equipment, and support groups, and even provide a magical week of MDA Summer Camp for families served by the Association in our local area.

Donations can be made directly to any of THE NINE ladies, or online by clicking here. Everyone is invited to the Hendersonville Outback Steakhouse as well if you'd like to bring in your donation to the scene of the crime...

Brie & The Nine

The Nine welcomes a baby!

Last week I (Dana) got together with THE NINE and they surprised me with a baby shower! Such a sweet group of girls and I am so fortunate to be a part of it!

KATY COOK hosted the shower at her house in Marion and she did such a great job with the details.





She even made a diaper cake!

Smoochbooth Soiree!

Last Friday, February 13, a third of the nine, myself (Brie), Audrey, and Kelly attended Corey McNabb's "Smoochbooth Soiree" to celebrate the official release of the Smoochbooth. The party was held at McNabb's studio and it was a packed house... delicious food by Colorful Palette and M7 Events, a lip-smacking "smooch" cake from Cakes by Jane, tunes by Dylan Skidmore and so so much more! There was even an incredible ice sculpture crafted by Masterpiece Ice. I think the 3 of us had too many Cosmopolitans (thanks Corey!), but it got us out on the dance floor, and most importantly, into the Smoochbooth for a few fun photos... Check us out!

Welcome to our blog! If you have browsed through our website you have probably read that we are nine photographers aligning together to inspire, support, and encourage each other. We want to make a difference in our communities and know that with the "power of nine" we can be much more effective than trying to do it ourselves. As artists, we want to continue to push ourselves further to improve our craft. We know that we can do this through inspiring, teaching, and mentoring each other.
We all have a variety of backgrounds, which means lot's of resources and past experiences to gain from.
We are excited to introduce ourselves. And we are excited to work with you!
